We’ve all been there -a wedding where the bride’s makeup looks a little too much like she is going to the club rather than getting ready to recite her vows. While some looks may look great for every day or a night out with the girls, the makeup a bride wears on her wedding day is extremely important and needs to be considered with caution.
So here are a few common Wedding Day Makeup Mistakes to stay away from to make sure you show the best version of your beautiful face for your walk down the aisle!
1: Stay away from bold eye shadows. Now is not the time to experiment. Maybe you’re having a holiday wedding and think silver and gold may be appropriate, but let’s leave that to holiday ornaments. And even if those trendy new colors from your favorite cosmetics company are all the rage, save them for another day. Keep your eye shadow simple, clean and neutral toned.
2. Avoid shimmery blushes. Sure they’re pretty, but you want the focus to be on your dress that you mortgaged your left leg for not the glistening at the apples of your cheeks. Keep your blush looking natural and matte.
3. Don’t try to match your foundation yourself. There is nothing worse than watching a Mortician look alike walk down the aisle, or even worse, a sun kissed face with a foundation line at the neck. Find a local makeup artist at a trusted salon or department store counter weeks in advance and have them match the correct foundation to your skin tone. Or even better get a makeup artist you trust and have her guide you.
4. Avoid trendy lip colors. While they can look amazing amazing any other day of the week, your wedding is not the time to make the statement that you are indeed a trendsetter. Stick with a simple lip color, matte or dewy, that is complements your eye shadow and blush, completing your overall look.

5. Do not wear mascara that is not waterproof. A wedding is emotional so don’t end up with a black trail of mascara tears! While it can be difficult to part with the mascara that you are used to, opt for waterproof mascara to avoid this danger zone!
